Addiction is one of the most confounding issues we can encounter in our clinical work. Multiple protocols exist for working with addiction in an EMDR context; however, the decision of how and why to use a certain approach can be overwhelming.

This training aims to streamline the process of working with addiction with EMDR. In addition to an overview and instruction in three key addiction protocols, we will focus on the overall conceptualization of the addiction process and developing a unified, integrative model that will streamline clinical decision making, reduce confusion about what protocol to use when, and help us better explain the addiction process to our clients.

Jett Cutter Roberts, EMDRIA Basic Trainer and trauma expert, will be leading this two-day virtual training. He has worked with extensive and varied presentations of trauma, and he specializes in working with dissociation, addiction, and severe trauma. He has been in clinical practice for 12 years and is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

Comprehensive Approach

Using only one lens or protocol to treat addiction can be unnecessarily limiting and frustrating. Rather than focusing on one element, this comprehensive training will help you pick, and successfully use, the best approach for a wide variety of addictive presentations.

Trauma and Values Focused

We will learn how to identify and address the trauma underlying addiction- focusing on sequencing, resourcing, and fluid integration of the addiction protocols. The critical role of values, and values clarification, will also be addressed in the context of addiction.
